Made this quilt for a special person, an appliqued ‘Japanese Spitz’ with jasmine flowers and pearls around him.

I found a fantail design by Margaret Matthews in a NZ Quilter magazine and I’m happy with how it’s made up into two cushion covers.
That should be subtitled, ‘a lesson in patience!’ There is a very good pattern for a fabric cubby in the Better Homes and Gardens ‘Building Cubby Houses and Sandpits’ workbook series. After fixing one mistake in their pattern, everything went smoothly until it came time to fit the gazebo parts. #@*X is all I can say! Thanks goodness for Stan and his pipe cutter and his clever fix with some alkathene pipe to correct the angles in the roof support and replace the fitting that I split. Next time I suggest cutting down a cheap gazebo frame first then cutting a pattern to fit. Destined for a second birthday present 🙂
Have just finished these two sizes of a reversible sun hat pattern that I adapted from the web site of ‘Collection of baby sun hat patterns, Craft Backyard.’ They give different styles and sizes, I followed the instructions for hat C but the result has a very ruffled brim, nothing like the flat brim in their picture. Never mind, I still love the results.
