It’s good to try something different so this week the old ‘mon tricot’ stitches book came out and I tackled the harlequin crochet stitch. All I can say is thank goodness for people who put tutorials on youtube! After a few minutes of watching how to, I was able to decipher the instructions in the pattern and voila! Ready to go in a dolls pram…

This beautiful crochet block in called African flower, I followed the tutorial on ‘African flower: paperweight Granny’. It’s a relatively simple pattern but very effective on mass. Thanks for the clear instructions 🙂

I was looking to make a Christmas tree decoration for this year and found this cute bird tutorial on ‘Attic 24: Birdie decoration’s’ site. Crocheted in 8ply wool, the tutorial was very easy to follow, thank you!

There are lots of examples on the internet of patterns to make this ‘dotty crocheted block’. I modified one to suit and made it up in double knit wool and rainbow colours.

This blanket is made up using ‘Priscilla Hewitt’s’ circle of friends pattern off the internet. It took a few goes to suss out the pattern but was accurate once I concentrated! Others have made it up using all dark colours which gives it a very different look. Thanks for the pattern 🙂

crocheted christmas tree 002After seeing one of these at Christmas time I had to have a go at making one. All you do is make concentric sized circles of crochet, choosing whatever colour combination you want to finish with. Novelty wool on the last few rows gives a textured finish. Stan made me a dowling and wood base, choose whatever size you want to finish with- a short and fat tree or a long elegant tree. Thread your circles on to the dowling, decorate with beads and baubles and hey presto, you’re done! Thanks for the idea, Lynnie 🙂

Crochet Owls

I’ve just finished embellishing another old grey army blanket. This time there are a few owls amongst the flowers, found  Laura Maxell’s free crochet owl pattern very helpful.
